UPLOADING A VIDEO:
Restrictions and suggestions:
To save you forking out buckets of bandwidth and time waiting for your video entry to upload we have set a max file limit of 128MB and only accept the most common video formats. So, when you upload a video entry please make sure that your clip is under the max file size limit and is also one of these preferred video formats: avi, m4v, mov, mp4, mpeg, mpg, wmv
***If you can, we recommend saving your video as either an mp4 (BEST!), .mov, or .wmv.
Edit your video clip to the correct file size and format:
If you are a complete newbie to editing video, no worries, with the standard video editing software that comes standard with most computers you can save your clip at the correct size and format in no time.
- How to save your video in Window’s Movie Maker: (http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/using/moviemaker/create/saveforweb.mspx)
- How to save your video in Mac’s iMovie: (http://multimedia.journalism.berkeley.edu/tutorials/webvideo/exporting/)
***When it comes to Ubuntu and Linux peeps you can use either:
- Avidemux (http://fixounet.free.fr/avidemux/)
- Cinelerra (http://heroinewarrior.com/cinelerra.php)
- FFmpeg (http://ffmpeg.mplayerhq.hu/)
All of these Linux programs are free to download off the web.
Recommended video specs:
– Save it in H.264 codec (mp4) format for the best results:
A codec is the format in which your video will be encoded. Different codecs have different features and varying quality. For best results, we recommend using H.264 (referred to as MP4) for the video codec. If you’re on a Windows machine, WMV3 is a good choice for video codec. Although we like MP4 the best, we will generally accept any of the following formats: 3g2, 3gp, 3gp2, 3gpp, asf, asx, avi, divx, mts, m2t, m2ts, m2v, m4v, mkv, mov, mp4, mpe, mpeg, mpg, ogg, wmv.
- Save your video at 25 frames per second (or 30fps):
When saving your video make sure you check the frame rate option (fps) at ‘25fps’.
- Resolution & Frame Sizes:
640×480 for standard definition 4:3 ratio video and 640×365 for standard definition 16:9 ratio (widescreen) are both strongly recommended! Making the video any bigger than 640pixels wide will be a waste…

UPLOADING A PHOTO SEQUENCE:
Restrictions and suggestions:
As with videos, we have set a photo file size restriction of 500kb, for each pic you upload. This will be a total of 20mb for a 20 photo sequence, (20 images is the maximum amount of photos you are allowed to load in a sequence and 5 is the minimum). We also set the minimum amount of photos you can upload as an entry at 5. We rate that 5-frames is the bare minimum to show us that the ride / move was pulled off successfully.
Photo file formats: We can only accept jpeg, png and gif file formats.
Most digital cameras shoot an image in excess of 2mb (some even bigger depending on your cam’s resolution) and when you drag the image onto your computer they can span over 3500 pixels wide (in landscape orientation).
We recommend that you re-size your photos to around 800×534 pixels (landscape orientation). The minimum size for a photo is 565x375pixels.
Once you are ready to upload your photo sequence to the 1wavewonder website follow these easy steps:
1: Click on the ‘Upload Your Entry’ link at the top of the page.
2: Drop your name, the surfers name, your email address and phone contact number in the respective info fields.
3: Select each photo from your computer in order of the upload fields – image 1 = first photo of the sequence, image 2 = second photo etc. So, you insert the first photo of your sequence into the first upload field and then work your way through your sequence as you go down.
4: Fill in the security question at the bottom of the page (so we know you are not a spamming robot!) and hit send.
Please note: Your entry can take up to 24 hours before appearing on the 1wavewonder website.
